Últimas Actualizaciones
South Africa’s inflation rate fell sharply to 2.7% in March 2025 from 3.2% in February and below analysts' estimates of 2.9%. This marked the lowest reading since June 2020, falling below the lower bound of the SARB's 3–6% target range, mainly due to a steeper decline in the fuel index (-8.8% vs -3.6% in February). Additionally, price growth slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.7% vs 2.8% in February) and restaurants & hotels (4.2% vs 4.6%). The core inflation rate, which excludes volatile items such as food, non-alcoholic beverages, fuel, and energy, dropped to 3.1%, the lowest since September 2021, easing from 3.4% in the prior month. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.4% in March, slowing down from a 0.9% advance in the previous month.
