The Central Bank of Uzbekistan held its key interest rate at 14% during its June 2025 meeting, keeping a cautious monetary approach, aiming to curb inflationary pressures and ensure that inflation shifts into a steady downward trend. Though headline inflation eased to 8.7% in May, core inflation rose to 8.5%, driven by higher service costs and strong demand. Economic activity remained high due to increased trade, credit growth, and government spending. The ongoing global uncertainty, trade tensions, and rising food prices could further pressure domestic inflation. The Bank had reaffirmed its goal to reduce inflation to 5%.
