Montenegro's trade deficit narrowed to EUR 317.0 million in April 2025 from EUR 341.6 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. Exports declined by 6.3% year-on-year to EUR 50.7 million, while imports fell by 7.1% to EUR 367.6 million. Considering January to April of 2025, exports dropped by 2% compared to the same period a year earlier to EUR 200.8 million, weighed down by lower sales of manufactured goods classified chiefly by material (-44.6%), beverages and tobacco (-36.9%), machinery and transport equipment (-28.3%) and animal oil and fats (-16.1%). Meanwhile, imports rose by 3.6% to EUR.1305.2 million, primarily driven by higher purchases of animal oils and fats (11.5%), beverages and tobacco (7.9%), food and live animals (6.1%), mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials (5.5%), and miscellaneous manufactured articles (5.2%).
