The annual inflation rate in France rose to 1% in June 2025, revised up from an initial estimate of 0.9% and higher than May’s 0.7%. This marked the highest level since January, driven by a pickup in service inflation (2.4% vs 2.1%), particularly in accommodation services (5.5% vs 1.6%), and to a lesser extent, catering (2.2% vs 2.1%) and recreational and cultural services (1.7% vs 1.5%). Food inflation also edged up to 1.4% from 1.3%, while energy deflation eased slightly (-6.7% vs -8.0%). Meanwhile, tobacco price growth slowed (4.0% vs 4.1%), and prices for manufactured goods declined at the same rate as in May (-0.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4%, rebounding from a 0.1% decline in the prior period. Meanwhile, the EU’s annual harmonized inflation rate also rose to 0.9% in June from 0.6% in May, and was revised up from a flash estimate of 0.8%. The monthly harmonized CPI increased 0.4%, in line with preliminary figures, following a 0.2% drop in May.
