The annual inflation rate in Georgia rose to 4.8% in January 2026, following a six-month low of 4.0% in the previous month. Prices increased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (10.6% vs 8.8% in December 2025), health (8.3% vs 7.0%), restaurants and hotels (8.1% vs 6.9%), miscellaneous goods and services (7.4% vs 5.1%), and education (2.2% vs 2.1%). At the same time, deflation eased for furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (-0.6% vs -1.6%), transport (-0.3% vs -0.6%), and communication (-4.6% vs -4.7%). On the other hand, cost growth moderated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.5% vs 4.4%), while it fell further for clothing and footwear (-1.8% vs 0%) and recreation and culture (-2.5% vs -1.6%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.2%, rebounding from a 0.2% drop in the preceding period and marking the highest reading in over three years.
