The annual inflation rate in Greece eased to 2.4% in March 2025, the lowest in four months, from 2.5% in February. Downward pressure mainly came from a decline in transport prices (-1.6% vs 0.3%), due to lower costs for second-hand motorcars, fuels, and lubricants. Inflation also moderated for clothing and footwear (3.6% vs 6.4%) and health (1.6% vs 3.4%). These effects were partly offset by faster price increases in food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.2% vs 0.2%), driven by higher costs for bakery products, meat, fresh fish, edible oils, fruit, and vegetables; as well as increased housing inflation (5.9% vs 5.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.4%—the largest increase since last September—reversing a 0.1% decline in February.
