La balanza comercial (BC) se refiere a la diferencia entre el valor monetario de las importaciones y exportaciones de un país durante un período de tiempo determinado. Una balanza comercial positiva indica un superávit comercial, mientras que una balanza comercial negativa indica un déficit comercial. Lithuania’s trade deficit widened to EUR 0.584 billion in May 2025 from EUR 0.325 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year as imports grew while exports fell. Imports rose by 3.5% year-on-year to EUR 3.639 billion, driven mainly by increases in imports of machinery and mechanical appliances and parts thereof (24.9%) and electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (15%). Among trading partners, imports increased from Poland (13.7%), Germany (12.7%), and Latvia (8.1%). Meanwhile, exports dropped by 4.3% to EUR 3.054 billion, weighed down by lower exports of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (26.3%) and ground vehicles (20.3%). The top export destinations were Latvia (12.2%), Poland (10.2%), and Germany (8.8%). For the first five months of the year, the country posted a EUR 2.765 billion deficit, with exports decreasing by 0.7% while imports climbed by 7.2%.
