Lithuania’s trade deficit increased to EUR 0.608 billion in February 2025 from EUR 0.284 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year, as imports grew while exports fell. Purchases rose by 7.3% year-on-year to a three-month high of EUR 3.460 billion, mainly boosted by increases in imports of electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (23.9%) and mineral fuels, mineral oils and their distillation products (9.9%). Among trading partners, imports from Poland rose by 12.9%, followed by Germany (11.5%) and Latvia (8.3%). Meanwhile, exports dropped by 3.0% to EUR 2.851 billion, weighed down by lower sales of vehicles (-24%) and machinery and mechanical equipment, their parts (-15.2%). The top export destinations were Latvia (11.8%), Poland (11.0%), and Germany (8.8%). For the first two months of the year, the country posted a EUR 0.898 billion deficit, with exports edging down 0.1% while imports climbed 5.6%.
