Mexico’s unemployment rate inched up to 3.0% in September 2025 from 2.9% in August, slightly above expectations and marking the highest level since August 2024. The number of unemployed reached 1.85 million people. Joblessness stood at 2.9% among men and 3.1% among women. Most of the unemployed (87.5%) had completed at least secondary education, while 12.3% had not. By age, the 25–44 group represented nearly half of all unemployed (49%), followed by those aged 15–24 (32.6%). In terms of duration, 46.6% had been jobless for a month or less, while 32.2% had been unemployed for one to three months.
