The annual inflation rate in the Philippines edged up to 1.7% in September 2025, from 1.5% in the previous month, although it remained below market expectations of 2%. This marked the highest reading since March, as prices increased at a faster pace for food and non-alcoholic beverages (1% vs 0.9% in August), while it rebounded for transport (1% vs -0.3%). Meanwhile, prices were stable for housing and utilities (2.1%), clothing and footwear (1.7%), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (2.4%), information and communication (0.6%), recreation, sport and culture (2.1%), education (3%), and financial services (0%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices stalled in September, following a 0.6% gain in the prior month. Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes certain food and energy items, slightly eased to 2.6% from an eight-month high of 2.7% in August 2025.
