Senegal’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 2.9% in November 2025, up from October’s three-month low of 1.9%. It was the highest inflation rate since March 2024, mainly reflecting faster rises in food prices, which increased 5.0%, up from 3.2% in October and marking the fastest growth since March 2024. Inflation also accelerated for restaurants (3.0% vs 2.7%), furnishings (3.3% vs 3.2%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (15.9% vs 11.4%). Meanwhile, inflation eased for housing and utilities (1.0% vs 1.3%) and healthcare (2.3% vs 2.4%), while remaining steady for clothing and footwear (at 0.6%) and transport (at 2.9%). Conversely, prices in the information and communication sector continued to decline (-3.6% vs -1.6%). Excluding energy and fresh products, the core index increased 4.7% yoy, accelerating slightly from a 4.6% rise in October.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.1% in November, following a 0.2% drop in October.
