Senegal Tasa De Inflación

Consumer prices in Senegal rose by 0.3% year-on-year in May 2025, rebounding from a 0.2% fall in the previous month. The increase was driven by higher costs of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (8.8% vs 8.6% in April), clothing and footwear (0.3% vs -0.1%), and health (2.3% vs 1.6%). Additionally, prices declined at a slower pace for food products and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.3% vs -1.2%) and information and communication (-6.8% vs -8.8%). Conversely, inflation moderated for housing and utilities (0.5% vs 0.6%) and transport (0.3% vs 0.4%), while it decreased further for leisure, sport and culture (-0.4% vs -0.2%). Excluding energy and fresh products, the core index went up by 2.1% year-on-year, following a 1.8% gain in April. On a monthly basis, consumer prices advanced by 0.3% in May, recovering from a 0.5% drop in the preceding period.
