Canada’s manufacturing sales fell 1.0% month-on-month to C$71.5 billion in October 2025, reversing a 3.3% increase in September and roughly in line with earlier estimates of a 1.1% fall. Eleven of the 21 subsectors recorded declines. After two consecutive monthly gains, chemical product sales dropped 6.0% to C$5.2 billion, reflecting weaker activity in the pharmaceutical and medicine segment. Wood product sales fell 9.0% to C$2.9 billion, the lowest level since July 2020, as recent US tariffs triggered production slowdowns and sawmill closure announcements. Transportation equipment sales declined 2.3% to C$11.5 billion after a 9.3% rise in September, with aerospace products and parts posting the largest decrease within the subsector. Sales fell in six provinces, led by Ontario (-1.7%) and Quebec (-2.5%). On a year-on-year basis, manufacturing sales rose 0.7%.
